* Appointed by the President

* He must have qualification equivalent [as equal] to the judge of Supreme court

* He is not a member of cabinet but he can speak in Parliament or in any Parliamentary committee

* He can take part in any proceedings and committees of the Parliament

* He can be an audience in any courts of the country

* He has no right to vote

* His duties – to provide legal advice to the Indian govt., to perform the tasks assigned to him by the President

Advocate general-

* Each state has one advocate general

* He is appointed by Governor of the state

* He holds the office during the pleasure of the governor

* He must have qualification equivalent [equal to] the judge of High court

* His duties – to give legal advice to the state govt., to perform the tasks assigned to him by the state governor

* He has no right to vote

* He can take part and can speak in any proceedings of the state legislature

Comptroller and Auditor general [CAG]-

* Appointed by the President

* His office tenure is for 6 years or 65 years old – which ever is earlier

* He can be removed by the President

* After his office tenure he can’t hold any state or union/central govt office

* He is also known as ‘the custodian and trustee of public money’

Chief justice of India [CJI]-

* Appointed by President

* His qualifications – he must been a judge of High court for 5 yrs or eminent jurist/advocate of High court for 10 yrs

* He can hold office upto 65 years

* He with the consultation of President appoints other judges of Supreme court

Chief justice of High court-

* He is appointed by President after consulting with chief justice of India and governor of the state

* Other judges of High court are appointed by President

* His qualification – he must been an advocate of High court or of 2 such courts for 10 years OR he must been a judicial officer in India for 10 years
